 Conjunction - उभयान्वयी अव्यय

दोन विचार कृती आणि कल्पना त्यासोबतच दोन वाक्य आणि वाक्प्रचार यांना जोडणाऱ्या शब्दांना उभयान्वी अव्वय असे म्हणतात.

 The words which join thoughts, actions and ideas, as well as clauses and phrases is called conjunctions. 

Each of the three different types of conjunctions joins different parts of a sentence together. Conjunctions are known as connective or linking words.

 Let’s take a look at some of the most commonly used forms.

Coordinating Conjunctions - समन्वय साधक उभयान्वयी अव्यय 

And, nor, or या स्वतंत्र वाक्य किंवा वाक्प्रचार जोडणाऱ्या उभयान्वी अव्यय यांना समन्वय साधक उभयान्वयी अव्यय असे म्हणतात.

Coordinating conjunctions like "and," "nor," or "so" link equal parts of a sentence, be it words, phrases, or independent clauses.

He was late for school, so he took a shortcut.

Her favorite colors were purple and red.

She doesn't like coffee, nor does she like tea.

Subordinating Conjunctions - सहाय्यक उभयान्वयी अव्यय.

मुख्य वाक्याला त्यावर आधारित वाक्याला जोडण्यास सहाय्य करणाऱ्या उभयान्वयी अव्ययाला सहाय्यक उभयान्वयी अव्यय असे म्हणतात. उदा, because, since, after.

 Because, since and after these words link a dependent clause to an independent clause, helping to show the relationship between the two clauses and emphasize the main idea of the freestanding/independent clause.

Because it was raining, we had to cancel the class picnic.

The house was a mess after the crazy party we had last night.

He doesn't go skiing any more, since he had the accident.

Correlative Conjunctions - सहसंबंधी उभयान्वयी अव्यय

दोन उभयान्वयी अव्यय वाक्य जोडण्यासाठी जेंव्हा एकमेकांवर अवलंबून असतात अशा उभयान्वयी अव्ययांना सहसंबंधी उभयान्वयी अव्यय असे म्हणतात.

The conjunctions work in pairs to join together words or phrases that have equal importance within a sentence, like "either/or", "such/that" and "not only/but also" are called correlative conjunctions. 

For example:

You can have either chocolate or vanilla ice cream.

He not only plays the guitar but also the drums.
